* Toyota WEC team ready for Six Hours of Nürburgring
* Proven high-downforce aerodynamics for famous circuit
* Drivers and team in the hunt for world championship

Toyota will return to its race-winning high-downforce aerodynamic package when it resumes its challenge for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at this weekend's Six Hours of Nürburgring in Germany.

The Toyota team arrives at the famous 5.137km Nürburgring grand prix circuit with the same aerodynamic set-up that resulted in victory at this year's WEC rounds in England and Belgium.

Toyota GAZOO Racing has entered two TS050 Hybrid race cars - the #8 in the hands of title second-placed crew Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima and the #7 for Mike Conway, Kamui Kobyashi and José Mariá López.

Buemi, Davidson and Nakajima are 17 points off the driver's title lead, after winning two of the three rounds held so far this year, and Toyota is second in the manufacturer's championship.

Team president Toshio Sato said the team's entire focus and energy were on the six remaining six-hour races this year.

"Our target is clear - we want to score as many points as possible and strengthen our position in both the drivers' and manufacturers' world championships," he said.

Both Davidson (#8) and Conway (#7) said their cars had demonstrated the required speed to achieve positive results.

Toyota motorsport: In 2017, Toyota marks the 60th anniversary of its first international motorsport entry (and the first by a Japanese car manufacturer), when it contested the 1957 Round Australia Trial. This is why many people consider Australia to be the birthplace of Toyota motorsport. Today, Toyota contests the FIA-sanctioned World Rally Championship, World Endurance Championship which features the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the gruelling Dakar Rally. Closer to home, the Toyota 86 Racing Series seeks to develop the talent of tomorrow as Australia's premier grassroots circuit-racing category.
