The safety, value and performance of Lexus IS and GS Line models has led to their nomination as finalists in the 2013 Australia's Best Cars awards.

Judges from Australia's motoring clubs have chosen three Lexus vehicles from the IS and GS Lines to compete in the Australia's Best Cars (ABC) awards, in which 210 different models are assessed across 15 categories.

The ABC awards are run by Australia's motoring clubs which represent more than seven million members through the Australian Automobile Association (AAA).

The awards are a part of the AAA's mission to provide consumers with reliable information to help them decide which new car to buy.

The recently launched Lexus IS 300h was nominated in the Best Medium Car over $50k category.

The Lexus GS Line is prominent in the Best Large Car Over $60k category, with nominations for both GS 350 F Sport and GS 450h, taking out two of the three finalist positions.

Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley said that Lexus' pioneering of hybrid technology for luxury vehicles along with its long-term dedication to making quality, high-performance vehicles puts it in a good position for such awards.

"The Lexus range has represented quality and value since the marque was introduced, and the awards the brand has picked up over the years are testament to that," Mr Hanley said.

"Both the new IS and GS models are ground-up designs representing the latest in Lexus technology; and on top of that these cars are designed to be enjoyable to drive.

"The fact that Australia's Best Cars awards has chosen three Lexus vehicles - all with our hybrid electric technology - shows that the experts from car clubs around the country recognise the quality, safety and value of Lexus cars," he said.

In the 2012 ABC awards the Lexus GS 350 F Sport beat both the Audi A6 3.0 TDi Quattro and BMW 520i to win the Best Large Car Over $60k category.

ABC highlighted GS 350 F Sport's extensive equipment levels, engine and dynamics, and advanced safety technologies, including the Lexus Pre-Collision Safety System, as reasons for its win.

ABC winners will be announced in November, with the results being made available by the motoring clubs and on the Australia's Best Cars website at
